A Frugal Wife: Money Supermarket Home Improvement Hero - the ...

First things first and I want to say thank you for the supportive comments left on last night's post - they were very much appreciated and just what I needed. ?Until I get round to replying to comments & catching up with my blog reading, please take this wee note as a big, big thank you, you lovely people. :) ?

After a decent night's sleep (2 in a row!) the Mister has taking the tots out this morning to help him with his errands which has meant I've been left in peace to put my thinking cap on for our latest challenge.

[Yes. ?Another one]
I'm very excited to be participating in the Home Improvement Hero challenge courtesy of Money Supermarket. With a budget of ?50, the folks at Money Supermarket want to see if you can change the look, feel and/or the functionality of a room on a low budget. Is it possible? I do love a challenge and thought this would be right up our street!

Our spare room has been neglected which is a shame so this is the room we've chosen to make over.

Here it is in its current state:

As you can see, we've got a good canvas to start with. A good sized space, neutral walls and (whilst not to my taste) a red carpet in very good condition with plenty of life left in it yet.

The chest of drawers belong in our bedroom and are home to my clothes, but we moved it into this room to have somewhere to place the TV on. To say I'll be pleased to get the drawers out of this room is an understatement! The air bed hasn't been taken down since our niece stayed with us at the end of June and has became a "boinging, boinging" toy for the tots to bounce on, lie on and put random items on.

The room is rarely used. ?I try my best to keep the door closed and forget about it and whilst the tots will pop their heads in and bring in a toy or two, they don't really like spending time in the room either.

So what is my aim for this room on my ?50 budget?

Well, there are a few things on my list.

I want a space for me. ?

Yes, that's right, I'm being selfish. ?A desk with somewhere to sit to write, complete paperwork & type away on my laptop is at the top of my priorities.?

I also want a space for the Mister & the tots.

The television is staying in this room so I want some seating and a TV area, I would like somewhere to relax and I want to have some space for the tots to be able to play and have some quiet time too.

I want a multi-purpose family room

With ?50 in my pocket and exactly one week to turn this room into something we'll all use & enjoy, I'd a better get myself organised!?

If you use Twitter check out the #HomeImprovementHero hashtag to see how everyone is getting on and I'll be posting progress updates on Facebook?.
