It finally happened. I finally had the opportunity to see Maya Rudolph and Gretchen Lieberum perform as PRINCEss during SF Sketchfest. From ?Dirty Mind? to Head to the masturbatory ?Darling Nikki? (complete with outro), it was a magical experience that I shall treasure for a lifetime?through Instagram photos:
Maya?s almighty tambourine:
Maya and Gretchen embody all that is Prince (mostly from the ?80s):
The band that included a shirtless guitar player with eyeliner and a drum machine dude in ruffle shirt, fedora, blazer, Speedo, and fishnets:
Maya gets crunk with the power of the purple:
Rolling on the ground:
Finally, a bow after an encore:
If you ever have the chance to see Maya and Gretchen do their thang as PRINCEss, do it. If not, you?ll regret it. It?s a balanced mixture of humor, some of the greatest music in history, finely executed vocals, and a whole lotta Prince yelps. They are the best Prince cover act ever created.
Oh yeah, follow me on Instagram. I take pictures of stuff like this and close up shots of people?s hair on public transportation.
